I was so excited during the entire 4.5 hour drive to Richmond, Va to meet and shoot with Abbey & Simon. I had only spoken with them over the phone, and even then, their energy, love, and personalities were contagious. I could just tell how serious they take their engagement and their commitment and devotion to one another. They are so young, but mature beyond their years.
You never really know what to expect when you meet a couple for the first time, so I nervously waited in a parking deck to meet them for coffee before their session. Simon immediately hopped out of the car to hug me, and Abbey had a Chick-Fil-A bag in hand for me since they knew I had driven so far to hang out with them. I LOVE a Chick-Fil-A chicken sandwich! I knew for sure that I had nothing to worry about, and that these were my kinda people.
We sat down for coffee to kill some time to wait on the lighting to be just right, and it was honestly like sitting down with two very old friends. We spoke about our “how we met” stories, marriage, church, life, and everything between. We really lucked up as we had changed our meeting spot just before time to meet. I’m so glad we did, as the area around the coffee shop was lined with cobblestone streets, and old brick buildings with so much color and character.
We ended our evening at Belle Isle for some riverside sunset shots. All-in-all I think we spent around 4 hours with each other that day, and it was just the most fun. I can’t wait to shoot their big day in July.
I am honored to share with you Abbey & Simon’s Richmond engagement session…
