Where do I even start with this couple?
Our history only goes back a few years, but the deep connection and experiences shared with these guys goes much deeper. I met Steven in 2015 when I was living in Ethiopia. He had come over to do some photo and video work for the organization I was working with at the time, and we really hit it off. We had very similar, quiet personalities and had lots of creative interests in common.
Steven would later return to Ethiopia with his wife Brittany, so that she too could experience the life-changing country that is Ethiopia. They both emit a gentle and caring glow that is contagious. Fast forward three years and these two are planning to bring a baby girl, Everly, into the world. I was so humbled and honored that they would ask me to capture such an important time of their lives. Steven has been somewhat of a photography mentor to me, and actually is largely responsible for my current passion for the art, as he is an amazing photographer with several years under his belt. So to say I was a bit nervous is an understatement.
We headed off to downtown Asheville on a rainy Saturday. I was somewhat skeptical with how the results would turn out considering the rain, but once we met up with our friends, it was nothing but smiles, good vibes, and meaningful conversation...which always makes for some timeless images. Asheville is Steven and Brittany's favorite mountain town and their "home away from home" as they call it. It was a time of reminiscing and reflection on the past, the present, and the future soon to come.
I cannot wait to meet Everly and to watch these guys grow and learn with a third little life in their home.
I am more than proud to share with you Steven & Brittany's maternity session...
